Advice for anyone returning to a practice they have abandoned more than once — which is to say, most of us.
The most common thing guests say on the first morning is an apology. They used to practise. They stopped. They are sorry about it.
Stopping is not a failure of character. Practices end because life changes shape, and they resume when there is room. The only thing worth adjusting is the expectation that you will return at the level you left.
Start smaller than feels reasonable
Ten minutes, daily, is a practice. An hour, occasionally, when guilt peaks, is not. We would rather send you home with a short sequence you will actually do than a beautiful one you will admire.
